Accessibility Statement

The Bingham Estate, located in McKinney, Texas, just outside of Dallas, warmly welcomes all guests. We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive experience while preserving the historic integrity of our property.

Due to the historic significance of our 1882 Main House, certain accessibility limitations exist. Removal of some physical barriers is not readily achievable, as doing so would threaten or destroy the historic character and classification of the property, as permitted under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Physical Accessibility Limitations

Guests should be aware of the following physical barriers:

  • Walkways throughout the property may include changes in elevation and uneven surfaces such as gravel and grass.

  • The Main House is elevated and requires the use of steps for entry. All bedrooms in The Main House are located upstairs.

  • Due to the historic design, the interior includes narrow hallways and doorways that do not accommodate wheelchairs.

  • There is no elevator in The Main House.

  • No rooms in The Main House offer roll-in showers.

  • Cottage bathrooms include glass swinging shower doors. While these showers do not have a threshold or change in elevation for entry, they are not built specifically for wheelchair access.

Accessible Accommodations

To ensure all guests can enjoy The Bingham Estate, we have taken steps to remove barriers where possible, and our efforts are ongoing.

For guests with limited mobility who do not require the use of a wheelchair, we offer the following accommodations:

  • All guest rooms located on the ground floor of the estate are within the six cottages. These rooms may be suitable for guests with limited disabilities.

  • Staff assistance is available to help guests navigate gravel and grass pathways to cottage entrances.

  • Cottage rooms feature standard-width door frames and private en-suite bathrooms with step-free showers.

We encourage guests to contact us directly to discuss individual needs so we can recommend the most appropriate accommodation.

ADA Compliance Efforts

We strive to comply with the ADA in the following ways:

  • Guests with disabilities may reserve accessible accommodations during the same hours and through the same methods as all other guests.

  • Accessible features and known physical barriers are clearly described to allow guests to independently assess whether a room meets their needs.

  • Once an accessible room is reserved, it is held exclusively for that guest and removed from all reservation systems.

  • We make reasonable efforts to ensure that accessible rooms and accessibility information are available through third-party reservation platforms.

  • Guests with legitimate service animals are welcome in all areas of the inn where the public is permitted.

The Bingham Estate is committed to ensuring the accessibility and usability of our website for all individuals, including those with disabilities.
